Community Health Nursing and Psychological and Mental Health in our College hold a scientific symposium

The Community Health Nursing and Psychological and Mental Health Branch at the Faculty of Nursing / University of Kufa held a scientific symposium entitled: “Environmental Pollution” in the week of safety and security of chemical, biological and radiological, on Tuesday, 18/12/2018 on the nursing hall, The seminar was attended by Dr. Rajha Abdul Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and the scientific assistant Dr. Dhiyaa Karim  and Dr. Hisham Qasim Mohammed Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs and a number of instructors and students of community health and mental health branches

In her lecture, Dr. Fatima Wannas Khudair, head of the Community Health Branch, highlighted the ecosystem as an integrated ecological unit operating according to a dynamic and harmonious movement. This leads to the misuse of human resources by a change that causes so-called environmental pollution, Dr. Fatima also spoke about his types and levels. In another lecture, Assistant Professor Dr. Mortedha Ghanim Adai, Head of the mental and mental health branch, talked about the healthy landfill of waste and its various types, as well as the correct procedures in the landfill process.

The seminar recommended the following recommendations:

1- The necessity of conducting a comprehensive field study concerning the quantity and composition of solid waste from all sources to be the foundation stone and database for the following studies.

2- Follow the scientific methods for disposal of household waste, whether in the way of collection, conservation or transfer and the application of integrated waste management systems based on the nature and reality of Iraqi society.

3- To deal in particular with the medical solid waste resulting from hospitals, clinics and other health institutions and the need to sort and classification of medical waste within the health institution to be treated according to the seriousness and work to accelerate the repair and maintenance of incinerators not valid in hospitals with the provision of technical chimneys and filters of gases so as not to cause Air pollution.

4- To work on finding landfill sites that meet the required conditions and specifications and according to the contexts in developed countries in terms of selecting sites and operating them, and providing adequate space commensurate with the volume of waste produced by the city and work on the method of landfill in burying waste.

5- Activating all environmental laws, regulations and legislations related to the preservation of the environment and imposing penalties and fines on violators in order to create a clean and healthy urban environment.

6- Provide workers in the field of solid waste with sanitary and protective clothing such as gloves and masks.
