The basic sciences branch at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Kufa, held a scientific symposium on “Principles of safety and Security of biological and chemical hazards” on Monday, 17/12/2018. Where the lecturers were Assist. Prof. Dr. Zainab Ali Hussein and Assistant Professor Dr. Dina Adnan Abdullah Assist. Dr. Ali Jabbar Eidan Assistant Dr. Amal Sadoon Majeed, Assist. Dr. Ahood Aqid Radhi on the occasion of the week of safety and chemical security on the hall of the College of Nursing
The seminar was attended by Dr. Rajha Abdul Hassan Hamza, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Dhiyaa Karim, Dean’s Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Hisham Qasim, Dean’s Assistant for Administrative Affairs, and a number of the faculty’s professors and students.
The seminar showed that laboratory biosafety can be defined by containment rules through scientific techniques and practices applied to prevent unintentional exposure to pathogens and toxins.
The seminar recommended the following recommendations:
1 – Making posters for signs and mandatory signs of laboratory work.
2 – Ensure laboratory safety data when purchasing chemical and biological materials.
3 – Conducting a questionnaire for postgraduate students at the Faculty of Nursing to find out how they benefit from the occupational and laboratory safety courses in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
4 – Work a course on the interpretation of symbols and laboratory signals.
