The public discussion of the Master Thesis tagged was held at the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Kufa on Sunday morning 24 / 2 / 2019 at 10:00 am and at the Faculty of Nursing major Hall, which was presented by the student Israa Shaker Saeid and entitled: (The burden on caregivers for children with Down syndrome) of Pediatric Nursing branch, under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Mortadha Ghanim Adai, The discussion committee consisted of Assist. Prof. Dr. Afifa Redha Aziz and Assist. Prof. Khitam Mutashar Faculty of Nursing / University of Baghdad, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatima Wannas Faculty of Nursing / University of Kufa.
The objective of the study was to assess the burden of caregivers for children with Down syndrome and to determine the relationship between those burdens and the demographic characteristics of caregivers.
The study recommended that national and government organizations design sustainable programs and lifelong financial assistance that should be planned not only for Down syndrome children but also for their families, As well as the establishment of advisory and educational units in primary care centers to coordinate their services and manage their program, particularly for old caregivers and children. More research is being built to explore the relationship between stress and psychological state with burden of care.
