College of Nursing Holds developed first Aid Course (ATLS, ACLS)

As part of the cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Kufa and the charity Foundation for the development of health program, the College of Nursing held a training course for its graduate students, the course aims at reducing the number of deaths caused by emergency injuries through a scientific methodology based on advanced training (ATLS, ACLS), the course also includes the development of the system of dealing with injuries and emergency medical cases in Najaf Governorate.

Dr. Rajha Al-Kassar, Dean of the College Said the scientific studies have shown that 40% of the injured die before reaching the hospital if they are evacuated and did not provide first aid before reaching the hospital, of these, two-thirds of the injured could be saved and hospital reports say there were a large number of deaths from injuries that could have been avoided.

Al-Kassar added that the strategy of the course is based on applying the life cycle model to rehabilitate the injured before they reach the hospital, which has proved effective in dealing with the injured, which necessitates the training and equipping of the emergency teams.

It is worth mentioning that the aim of the course is to contribute to the development of the Iraqi health reality for the benefit of the public as well as the course depends on the latest means and programs of global health.
