Prof. Rajiha Al-Kassar publishes scientific research in the Annals of Tropical Medicine and Public Health magazine within the Scopes Q4 containers
The dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Kufa, Dr. Rajeh Al-Kassar, published a scientific research entitled (Effectiveness of the educational program on nurses’ knowledge regarding pain management for postoperative patients
The research mentioned that pain is one of the global medical problems in health institutions. In fact, it can directly affect patients’ comfort and lifestyle, which causes nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stress, lack of control, poor quality of life, lack of sexual activity and public relations, and it can lead to poor performance of work and daily activities
The research aims to verify the effect of the nursing educational program on pain management that limits health problems experienced by postoperative patients
- A quasi-experimental design was applied to (50) nurses to assess the effectiveness of the educational program on nurses’ knowledge about managing patients with postoperative pain in the holy city of Najaf in Sadr City Medical City during the period October 1, 2018 to, August 18, 2019.
The results of the study showed that there was a significant impact of the educational program regarding nurses’ knowledge towards pain management after surgery.
The study linked that most of the nurses in the surgical department suffer from a lack of knowledge regarding the management of the patient who suffers from postoperative pain.
The study recommends encouraging nurses to attend special session sessions and conferences to improve their knowledge and to keep them up to date on pain management after surgery.
