The Master’s thesis by the student (Manal Yassin Sharekhan) was discussed at the College of Nursing at the University of Kufa, entitled (The effectiveness of the guidance program in informing parents about home measures for children with epilepsy). Epilepsy is a chronic neurological condition that not only affects children, but also affects the family and society indirectly. Therefore, educating parents about the management of epilepsy at home is of utmost importance in reducing the negative impact of this disease on the child, family, and society. A quasi-experimental design was conducted from August 10, 2022 to August 1, 2023, and the study sample included a non-probability (shell) sample with the aim of Evaluating the effectiveness of the educational program in improving parents’ knowledge regarding home management of a child with epilepsy. The study was conducted at Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital and at the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Center for Neurosciences in the city of Najaf. The sample included (80) parents participating in this study, which were divided into two groups (40 study group and 40 control group) in two evaluation stages. The study group underwent the program and the control group did not participate in the program sessions. The two groups were evaluated (before the program) and after implementing the program, and the results of the study showed that parents from both groups in the pre-program test had weak to moderate knowledge about home management for epilepsy, and there were no statistically significant differences (P> 0.05) between the study group and the control group. In pre-test comparisons regarding all domains as well as overall knowledge. However, after implementing the program, (posttest) revealed a significant statistically significant difference (P < 0.01) between the study and control groups in the post-test comparison regarding overall knowledge compared to the control group, which remained at the same level of knowledge regarding management of the program. Epilepsy. In addition, the study concluded that the educational program was effective in improving parents’ knowledge regarding home management of children with epilepsy after the posttest of the study group. Based on the results of this study, the researcher recommended repeating this study on a wider group of parents throughout Iraq to obtain data that is more generalized for the study and represents the largest percentage of society, and to build a database for future researchers. The researcher also recommended using the results of this study as a guide in managing a family with a child with epilepsy and a low level of knowledge regarding epilepsy and its home management.
